Biography
Ms. Cecilia Torres is an Epidemiologist in the Center for Biomedical and Minority Health Research at Texas Southern University. She graduated from Texas A&M University with both her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Occupational Safety and Health.
Her research interests include maternal & child health, environmental health, and spatial epidemiology. Certified in SAS programming, Ms. Torres is creating coursework and teaching workshops surrounding SAS to students/staff/faculty at TSU to help grow data science capabilities. As a public health professional, she serves as a trainer in multiple programs teaching public health.
Research Interests
Ms. Torres’s research focuses on applying epidemiologic methods to improve population health outcomes.
Maternal & Child Health
Epidemiologic research addressing health outcomes and disparities for mothers, infants, and children.
Environmental Health
Study of environmental exposures and their relationships to population health.
Spatial Epidemiology
Use of spatial methods to examine geographic patterns of disease and health determinants.
